FR_EKHO a été créée par l'Atelier Flagey afin de promouvoir la lutherie et archèterie contemporaines de façon innovante.
La lutherie contemporaine s’inscrit dans la droite lignée de la facture instrumentale pratiquée par les maîtres du passé. La réalité du 21e siècle, elle, engage les luthiers dans la voie moderne de la globalisation et du partage du savoir à grande échelle.
Nous, luthiers et archetiers de notre temps, sommes les garants d’une tradition dont la musique et les musiciens dépendent. Utilisant les mêmes techniques que nos prédécesseurs, solitaires à nos établis face au bois brut, nous nous appliquons à façonner des objets beaux et sonores qui seront les outils et compagnons quotidiens des musiciens.
Depuis dix ans, l'exposition Ekho se déroule en collaboration avec le Concours International Reine Elisabeth. Ces expositions ont réuni des instruments et archets des luthiers et archetiers les plus réputés. Ekho a également invité des artistes à participer aux concerts et conférences organisées parallèlement aux expositions. De plus, Ekho propose des masterclasses tenuent par des membres du jury du Concours Reine Elisabeth.
EN_EKHO was conceived by the Atelier Flagey makers as a new and innovative approach to the promotion of contemporary violin and bow making.
Contemporary violin making working methods have been handed down in a direct line of decent from the past masters. In the 21st century violin makers are drawn into a new world of globalisation where ideas are shared on a grand scale.
Violin and bow makers of today are the custodians of a tradition on which both music and musicians rely. Using the same techniques as our predecessors, alone at our work benches, facing rough pieces of wood, we set out to create objects which look and sound beautiful and which will be the tools and daily companions of musicians.
For the last ten years, the Ekho exhibition has been held in collaboration with the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. These exhibitions have brought together instruments and bows from the most renowned luthiers and bow-makers. Ekho has also invited artists to take part in concerts and conferences organised alongside the exhibitions. In addition, Ekho offers masterclasses given by members of the Queen Elisabeth Competition jury.
